Season 3 Episode 2

Season 3 Episode 2: Clarity of Outcome
Practice of the Week: Define the desired outcome.

Unless you are clear about your desired outcome, you won’t get there. Clarity of outcome involves setting specific, measurable goals that are directly tied to your purpose. Without this clarity, it's easy to drift away from your purpose or to feel overwhelmed by uncertainty.

Notes

Measurable goals give you a target, a destination. So how do you set these kinds of goals? Here are a few tips:

  • Be SMART about your goals - That’s Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound. People tend to be good at the Specific and Achievable piece of goals.
  • Align your goals with your purpose - Each goal should be a stepping stone towards fulfilling your overarching purpose.
  • Break big goals into smaller milestones - This keeps you motivated and makes the journey manageable.

Here are a few questions and action for this week as you start to think about clarity of outcome:

  1. On a scale of 1 to 10, how clear are your outcomes? What would be different if you scored a 9 or 10?
  2. What's one measurable outcome you could set this week to move that project forward?
  3. Set three specific goals for yourself or your team.
