Focus of the Week: Draw out the greatness in others.
Coaching shapes the future by drawing out the greatness in others. To end the season, I’m recording 3 bonus episodes to wrap up each and continue growing together. This is the last one, and I have saved the best for last. I have found that coaching is the best way to raise up the leadership of others. The best way to achieve your goals, hopes and dreams is by teaching, mentoring and coaching others.

Coaching is a collaborative, forward-focused process that empowers individuals to unlock their potential and enhance performance through self-discovery and goal-oriented conversations.
Some of the important skills and practices for coaching include:
- Seeing others as experts - We remember that the greatest growth and development doesn’t happen when we tell people what to do. It happens when they discover the brilliance already within them.
- Powerful Questions - Ask questions for them (not for you), use their words, ask open-ended questions, don’t get stuck in either-or thinking, and let the silence do the heavy lifting.
- Action and Accountability - This might be the coaching skill that makes the most difference to get us unstuck and help us make progress and gain momentum.
- Structuring Coaching Conversations - Every coaching conversation is different, every person needs something different, and I don’t think there’s a coaching formula. But I have found that a little bit of structure around coaching conversations helps a lot.
